This institute will explore the updated Marzano Focused Model for School Leader Growth and Evaluation. Developed by Robert Marzano and Beverly Carbaugh, this evidence-based model responds to significant developments in the field of school leadership research and practice, specifically new language in the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders, updated implementation research, and lessons learned from observations in the field. The model takes as its premise that school leaders are made, not born. Every leader can improve and develop professional capacity given the right tools and focus. The session explores the model’s six domains of practice, with attention to the way a model for school leadership can fully align a system, from district to school leaders to teachers, into coherent initiatives for rapid, long-term results.
• Understand how the six major domains of school leadership contribute to school improvement and student achievement.
• Identify specific research-based actions and behaviors that enhance school leader effectiveness.
• Understand how a leadership framework functions as a continuous professional growth model for long-term improvement of leadership capacity.
