Course Objectives

• Describe the rationale for including students with learning differences and those who struggle within the general curriculum.
• Assess the current culture of inclusion within your grade-level or subject area team.
• Describe the tiers of instruction within an RTI framework.
• Compare current classroom practices to traditional, RTI and RTIi models of support.
• Identify the components of a meaningful, measurable goal.
• Analyze critical skills for a student and develop goals that represent them.
• Evaluate the quality of the goals in an IEP.
• Distinguish between accommodations and modifications.
• Select appropriate accommodations and modifications to support a student’s outcome/ goals.
• Describe the interdisciplinary process of designing research-based, individualized strategies that support student growth on critical skills.
• Implement evidence-based strategies and take data on student progress toward goals of a growth plan.
• Identify the 7 models of co-teaching and their components.
• Analyze and select models of co-teaching appropriate to address a variety of educational challenges.
• Effectively use various models of co-teaching within Tier I instruction.

Syllabus
